Snow in Summer

“Earth laughs in flower.”

– Ralph Waldo Emerson

Snow in Summer is one of our favorite ground covers here at Stone Acres.  This is an old fountain bed where the fountain no longer works, so we covered it in flowers and ground cover.

The latin name for this one is Cerastium tomentosum.  We are not sure what cultivar we have as most of this was here when we moved in and we have just encouraged it’s progress.

It blooms for about a month in May and June.  After it is finished blooming the plants look a bit ragged for about another month, but by mid July they have filled back in and make a beautiful ground cover for the rest of the year.

Enjoy your Sunday!!
