Video Tour of Stoney Acres Winter Garden

So as promised I have done a video tour of our winter garden.  I wish I had done it earlier in the year because things are looking pretty ragged.  But hey it’s February and there are actually a few things growing in my very cold Zone 5 garden!  I hope I didn’t ramble too much!!

As always I appreciate all your comments and input!

What a great idea to do a video tour! Thanks for taking the time to show us around Stoney Acres.

Too bad about the lettuce. It is doing well for us this winter, but our winters are milder for sure. But the tatsoi looks great! Mache is tricky for us here too, as is spinach. My mache is just now sizing up in the greenhouse. I’d certainly like to know a better way to get it germinated.

The mache does look great! How do you harvest yours? Is it a cut-and-regrow plant?

No, Mache is not a cut and regrow. I use a knife and just cut it off at ground level. It isn’t like lettuce, no chance of it regrowing so just harvest the whole plant!!

That was a good winter recap of your cold frame gardens. I have to time my seeding of mache just right or I have the same problem. We really love the taste of mache though and appreciate the bright fresh green salads it provides during the very darkest days of winter.
