This trellis is really simple to build. You can get fancy and use a miter saw to cut some nice angles like we did or you can simply build it with simple lumber. We loved this trellis so much that we ended up building two of them this year. They will be great for growing vining vegetables like beans and peas. This Garden Trellis would also be perfect for growing vining flowers.
We used Douglas fir to build our trellis because we wanted to keep the cost down. We will treat it every year with some linseed oil to help keep the wood in good shape. If you want to spend a little more money you could build your garden trellis out of redwood or cedar which would last much longer and handle the outdoor weather much better.
