Quick and Easy Breadstick Recipe

I love this quick and easy breadstick recipe! They are so good to go with any meal.  This recipe is perfect for a hearty soup or a pasta dinner.  My family loves to eat breadsticks, but it is just hard to have time to make them.  However, with this recipe, I am able to make them more often. Which means my kids are super happy!  There are not very many ingredients in these breadsticks and they have whole wheat flour and honey in them, which I love.  These breadsticks are crunchy and full of garlic flavor. They make a good addition to any dinner.

Time-saving breadsticks

I have a lot of different breadstick recipes that I love and are really good.  However, they are time-consuming to make.   I just don’t have time to make them during the week.  Breadstick recipes that take longer I save for weekends when I have more time for baking.

Quick and Easy Breadstick Recipe

I use this quick and easy breadstick recipe on really busy evenings because it is done and ready to cook in  25 to 30 minutes. It can be done this quickly because you don’t have to knead the dough, which makes it so nice to skip this step.  Another reason these are fast to make is that they only raise for about 20 minutes.

This quick and easy breadstick recipe is perfect for a busy weekday.  It is my go-to recipe when I need some bread to go with dinner. This is so nice that all you have to do is mix it up and then roll it out onto the pan.  So the next time you are pressed for time give this recipe a try.

Quick and Easy Breadstick recipe

1 cup warm water
2 1/4 teas yeast
1 TBSP honey
1 TBSP avocado oil
1 1/2 cup whole wheat flour
1 cup white flour
1 tsp salt
2 TBSP melted butter
2 tsp garlic powder
Grated Parmesan cheese

Directions

Mix together the warm water, yeast, oil, and honey.  Let it sit for 5 minutes until it looks bubbly.  Mix in the flour and salt. Add enough flour until it forms a ball and isn’t sticky.  Then let it sit for 10 minutes.  No kneading required! This is the best part of this recipe which is why it is so super quick to make! The whole wheat flour in the recipe can be changed to all white flour if you like that better. The honey can also be replaced with sugar.  I like to have as many nonprocessed foods in what I bake as I can.

Grease a baking pan or like in the picture you can use a cast iron pizza pan.  The breadsticks will be thicker in the round pan but they will also be shorter.  If you want longer breadsticks then use a baking sheet.

Rolling out the Dough

Roll out the dough with a pastry roller so the dough covers the pan.  Sprinkle the dough with garlic powder.  Brush the melted butter on the dough and sprinkle with salt.  Put the grated cheese on the dough. Use a pizza cutter to cut the dough into breadsticks.

Put the dough in a warm place and let it rise for 10 minutes.  If you have more time let them rise for 20 minutes.  The longer they rise the thicker they will be. If you are short on time then just let them rise for 10 minutes.  They still turn out great but are just a little thinner.

Baking Tips

If you want to have them rise quicker and don’t have time to wait then turn the oven to warm which is about 175 degrees. When the oven is heated to that temperature turn it off put the breadsticks in and let them rise.  It works really well and it is fast too.  However, you then have to take them out and let the oven preheat so it may save you only a little time.

Preheat the oven to 450 degrees. Bake the breadsticks for 6 to 8 minutes or until golden brown.
